Border 2 box office day 2: Sunny Deol film dominates Republic Day weekend
Sunny Deol's Border 2 performed better than Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar on its second day at the box office. The film is solidifying its status as the biggest tentpole release of 2026 so far.

Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated film Border 2 has made a notable entry at the box office. The film is performing better than Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar in its initial days. Released under the direction of Anurag Singh, the film registered a robust opening and continued its momentum into the second day. This positions it as a remarkable opener for 2026.
According to trade website Sacnilk, Border 2 collected Rs 36.5 crore on its second day. This sets it significantly ahead of Dhurandhar, which had managed Rs 32 crore on its second day of release in 2025.
On day 1, Border 2 had earned a total of Rs 30 crore. The film’s two-day collection in India now stands at Rs 66.5 crore.
As per the figures shared by makers, the film earned Rs 32.10 crore nett on day 1 and Rs 40.59 crore nett on day 2. This adds up to a total collection of Rs 72.69 crore nett.

The performance of Border 2 has drawn attention in box office circles, with analysts pointing out its rapid ascent. The film has not surpassed the second-day figures of Sunny Deol’s previous hit, Gadar 2, which earned Rs 43.08 crore. However, its current trajectory signals strong audience interest and potentially sustained success through its opening weekend.
The film’s ensemble includes Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh alongside Sunny Deol, and features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana in pivotal roles. The star power, combined with its patriotic theme, appears to have contributed to the film’s draw at cinemas nationwide, particularly during the Republic Day weekend.
Border 2 serves as the sequel to the 1997 film Border. The story is inspired by true events from the 1971 India-Pakistan War, focusing on the coordinated efforts of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The film’s production is led by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. As one of the biggest releases this year, trade experts expect Border 2 to cross the 100 crore mark by the end of its opening weekend, underlining its strong commercial potential.
