A chilling murder, masked for weeks as a railway accident, has come to light in Haryana’s Faridabad, where a woman and her lover allegedly bludgeoned her husband to death, crushed his face to conceal his identity and dumped his body on railway tracks, police said.

The crime, committed on November 30, 2025, surfaced after nearly two months of investigation, leading to the arrest of the victim’s wife and her alleged partner.

BODY FOUND MUTILATED ON TRACKS

The mutilated body of Suman, an auto-rickshaw driver from Godda district in Jharkhand, was found on a railway track in the Mewala Maharajpur area on December 1, 2025.

With his face severely crushed, police initially believed he had been run over by a train. His identity remained unknown for several days, and the case was treated as an accidental death.

MISSING COMPLAINT TRIGGERS BREAKTHROUGH

The case took a turn on January 18, when Suman’s brother, Sunny, lodged a missing person complaint at Surajkund police station.

An FIR was registered, and during the investigation, police matched the preserved body at the post-mortem house with the missing person’s details. The body was eventually identified through clothing and physical features.

Sunny also expressed suspicion about his sister-in-law and her relationship with another man.

AFFAIR AND MURDER PLOT

According to police, questioning revealed that Suman had discovered his wife’s extramarital relationship with Riazul, a resident of Malda district in West Bengal.

Investigators said the couple then decided to eliminate him.

“During interrogation, the woman revealed that the murder was committed after her husband came to know about her extramarital affair,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya said.

KILLED WITH STONE, FACE CRUSHED

Police said that on November 30, the accused called Suman to the Mewala Maharajpur area, made him consume alcohol and then attacked him near the railway tracks.

“They hit him on the head with a stone and killed him. To hide his identity and make it look like an accident, they placed his face on the tracks so that it would be crushed by passing trains,” an official said.

The body was then left on the tracks to give the impression of a fatal train accident.

ACCUSED TRACKED AND ARRESTED

A Crime Branch team from DLF unit detained the victim’s wife, Anjani alias Kavita (29), originally from Godda district in Jharkhand, and Riazul (30), from Malda district in West Bengal. Both were living in the Mewala Maharajpur area at the time of the crime.

Police said Anjani had left for Jharkhand soon after the murder and later returned to Faridabad.

Both accused allegedly confessed during questioning and were formally arrested on Sunday.

FAMILY AND AFTERMATH

Suman and Anjani had been married for around 15 years and had two children, police said.

After their arrest, the accused were produced before a local court and remanded to four days’ police custody for further questioning.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and gather additional evidence. “This was a pre-planned murder carried out to mislead investigators by staging it as an accident,” ACP Dahiya said.
