Leave it to a curious child to ask the question everyone else tiptoes around. A$AP Rocky recently found himself caught off guard when a young student bluntly asked if he was married to Rihanna – and the rapper’s amused response has since caught the internet’s attention.

Rocky appeared on an episode of Julian Shapiro-Barnum’s Celebrity Substitute, a series where public school students interview well-known personalities. During the episode, which aired on February 4, one student casually asked the rapper if he was married to global superstar Rihanna.

Reacting with a smile, Rocky replied, “That’s an interesting question that you asked,” before flipping the moment back to the child. “You want Rihanna, huh? Well, you got me. You got me today,” he said, keeping the exchange light and playful.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been in a relationship with Rihanna since November 2020. While the couple is known for fiercely guarding their privacy, they share three children – RZA Athelston, Riot Rose, and their youngest, Rocki Irish, born in September last year.

The rapper has occasionally opened up about family life, including how music plays a central role at home. Speaking during the same appearance, Rocky revealed that their children are exposed to a wide range of sounds and genres. “I play my children all sorts of genres - from Michael Jackson’s old, classic stuff to psychedelic music and The Beatles, of course. A lot of reggae,” he said. “We live in a musical household, so it’s very diverse.”

Rocky has also reflected on the early days of his relationship with Rihanna. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he recalled first meeting her at an event where he struggled to even get past security. “She was obviously Rihanna. And I couldn’t get in. The bouncers didn’t want to let me in,” he said, adding that she eventually stepped in and the two “locked eyes right away.”

On the professional front, Rocky recently released his fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, on January 16. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Rihanna celebrated the milestone online, posting on X, “Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah! DONT BE DUMB!!!”

At the 2025 Gotham Awards, Rocky spoke about how much Rihanna’s support means to him. “Having Rihanna’s support means everything,” he said. “Family support is just spousal support – everything. It just means a lot. It goes a long way.”
