Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Trinamool Congress, saying "some are trying their best to protect infiltrators." The PM made the remarks while speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

Speaking in the Upper House, Modi said people living under “ineffective governance” were facing an uncertain future, while those in power remained focused only on political gains. He alleged that infiltration was threatening livelihoods, land rights and safety, particularly of tribal communities, and warned that young citizens were being deprived of opportunities.

He said that those countries which are developed and prosperous are serious about getting infiltrators out of their countries but in our country, pressure is exerted on the courts to save infiltrators.

"Those who are using their power to advocate for infiltrators and the infiltrators are snatching away the rights of my country's youth, taking away their livelihoods, snatching away the land of the tribals, creating dangers for the lives of our sons and daughters, but for them, the atrocities against women continue unabated," he said.

He further said,"TMC leaders spoke on many issues, but they should also look at their own shortcomings. People there (in West Bengal) are suffering because of this government. They are trying to protect infiltrators by approaching the courts. They only care about power.”

He also raised concerns over alleged threats to women’s safety and accused opponents of turning a blind eye to serious social and security challenges.

Modi further criticised certain state administrations, alleging their policies had deepened social divisions and created an atmosphere of hostility within households. He said such governments had failed to act decisively on key issues while continuing to lecture others.

The Prime Minister’s speech comes a day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took the unprecedented step of arguing in person before the Chief Justice of India on Wednesday, carrying the SIR fight beyond the streets and the political arena into the country's highest court.
