A chance meeting on an ordinary road turned into a moment of quiet pride, reminding the internet that respect often travels across professions and sometimes, it parks right beside a helicopter.

The heartwarming incident was shared on X by Nitin Welde, an air veteran and consultant for helicopters in civil aviation. In the photograph he posted, an Ola cab driver named Gopal stands beaming next to a helicopter, a scene that unfolded after a brief but meaningful exchange between the two men.

Welde recalled noticing the cab driver standing across the road from the helicopter and asking him where he was. Gopal replied simply that he was parked opposite it. Sensing the driver’s curiosity, Welde suggested they take a photo together. Before agreeing, Gopal hesitated and asked if it would be allowed. Welde reassured him, telling him to inform security that ‘Captain Nitin’ had called.

What followed was a moment that struck a chord online. Gopal’s face lit up as he responded in Marathi, “Wah sir, lai bhari tumhi captain and mi bhi car cha captain too (Wow sir, you are a captain, and I am a car captain too).” The remark, equal parts proud and playful, captured the shared sense of responsibility both men carried in their respective roles.

Reflecting on the exchange, Welde wrote that at the heart of both professions lies the same duty, ensuring passengers reach their destination safely. “Both of us must know our machines well. Both of us make efforts to make the journey enjoyable for our passengers,” he added, drawing a parallel between flying a helicopter and driving a cab.

X users were quick to praise the interaction, calling it a rare and beautiful display of mutual respect. One user summed it up best, writing, “Gopal will treasure this moment forever. Thanks to you. Fantastic gesture.”
