Zoya Akhtar was born on October 14, 1972. She grew up in an agnostic environment with her father, Javed Akhtar, and her brother, Farhan.
She is a poet, lyricist, and writer. Zoya works in Hindi cinema as an Indian film director and screenwriter. She completed her diploma in filmmaking from NYU and assisted various famous directors before working as a director herself.
Zoya made her directorial debut with the movie Luck by Chance, which was well received by the audience. Since then, she has contributed to some of the most appreciated movies in Hindi cinema. Some of her movies are Zindagi na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Gully Boy. In 2011, she received the Filmfare Award for the best director.
