Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Established in 2008, the team plays home matches at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The franchise is owned by India Cements. The team is currently led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. CSK's former captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, led the team to multiple titles and established a strong identity for the franchise.

CSK was suspended for two years in 2015 due to its owners' involvement of its owners in the 2013 IPL betting scandal. In their comeback season in 2018, Chennai won the title. Chennai is also the winner of the 2021 IPL season. In January 2022, CSK became India's first unicorn sports enterprise.

The five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, acquired seven players on the first day of the IPL 2025 auction, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Noor Ahmad being their top picks. On the second day, CSK made their biggest purchase by acquiring pacer Anshul Kamboj for ₹3.40 crore. They also bought players like Sam Curran, Vijay Shankar, and Deepak Hooda, among others. Prior to the auction, CSK retained five players, including Ruturaj Gaikwad (₹18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (₹13 crore), Shivam Dube (₹12 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (₹18 crore), and MS Dhoni (₹4 crore).

Aravind-Shankar designed CSK's theme song, "Whistle Podu".  The track was originally created for YouTube in 2008.  It gained popularity during the 2009 season, leading to it becoming CSK's official theme song.
