Uber has appointed Balaji Krishnamurthy as its new CFO. The Indian-origin executive previously served as Uber's VP of strategic finance and investor relations.

Uber has named Balaji Krishnamurthy as its new chief financial officer (CFO). He will succeed Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah, who steps down after three years in the role. This change will go into effect on February 16, 2026. Krishnamurthy is an Indian-origin executive who has been at Uber since 2019.
The announcement, made alongside the company's fourth-quarter earnings, comes during a period of robust growth for Uber, with revenue rising to $14.37 billion in the fourth quarter, up 20 per cent from the previous year.
During Uber’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Krishnamurthy outlined his vision for the company’s future investments, notably in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology. He stated that Uber would invest capital in its AV software partners, work with AV makers by investing equity or via offtake agreements, and "support AV infrastructure partners."
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed confidence in Krishnamurthy’s appointment, noting his deep knowledge of Uber’s business and close work with the management team. "For those who don’t know Balaji, he is trusted by investors, knows Uber’s business inside and out, and is a brilliant, decisive strategist." Khosrowshahi said.
Who is Balaji Krishnamurthy?
Krishnamurthy was previously Uber's vice president of Strategic Finance and Investor Relations. Before joining Uber in 2019 as a senior manager of investor relations, he worked at Goldman Sachs for over eight years as vice president in equity research, focusing on hardware and communications technology.
According to his LinkedIn profile, the new Uber CFO completed his MBA from the Management Development Institute in Gurgaon. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology and has studied at Copenhagen Business School.
How much will Balaji Krishnamurthy earn as Uber CFO?
Krishnamurthy’s financial package as CFO includes an annual base salary of $600,000, a one-time restricted stock unit award worth $5 million, and an RSU award of approximately $9.4 million subject to time and performance-based conditions, as well as the option to purchase $3.1 million of common stock. He will also be eligible for Uber’s executive bonus and severance plans.
Mahendra-Rajah, the outgoing CFO, will remain with Uber as a senior finance advisor to Khosrowshahi until July 1, 2026, facilitating the transition of leadership.
