Actor Rajinikanth met sanitation worker Padma at his Chennai residence on Tuesday to recognise her honesty following her return of 45 sovereigns of gold ornaments she found during her work. The meeting took place after Padma, who works in Chennai's T Nagar area, discovered a pouch containing gold on the street earlier this month and ensured its safe return to the rightful owner through the police.

Padma immediately reported the discovery of gold to her superiors and handed the pouch to the Pondy Bazaar police. After verifying ownership, the police returned the valuables, prompting widespread appreciation for Padma's integrity from various sections of society.

During his meeting with Padma, Rajinikanth expressed his gratitude for her service and presented her with a gold chain. Photographs of the meeting quickly spread on social media, drawing attention to the importance of honest acts in everyday life.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin also acknowledged Padma's act of honesty by felicitating her and presenting her with a cheque for Rs 1 lakh, further highlighting the significance of her actions within the community.

Rajinikanth has a history of recognising exemplary behaviour among his admirers. Recently, he presented a gold chain to Rajini Sekar, a fan from Madurai, who was honoured for running an eatery that sold affordable parottas to support the poor.

On the work front, Rajinikanth is currently involved in director Nelson's Jailer 2 and will begin working on director Cibi Chakravarthy's upcoming film in April. He said, "Shooting is to begin in April this year. It will be a proper commercial entertainer."

The forthcoming film is being produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International. After Thalaivar 173, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are likely to join hands for a film, which is tipped to be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. However, an official announcement regarding the same is still awaited.
