Amid ongoing uncertainty around his much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan, actor and politician Vijay made a rare public appearance at a wedding in Chennai on Sunday, instantly drawing attention from fans and attendees alike.

Vijay attended the wedding of Sahil, son of YS Sunil Reddy, and Vedika, where he was greeted warmly by guests. Dressed in a crisp white shirt, matching trousers and a beige blazer, the actor arrived smiling, acknowledging well-wishers and taking time to interact with those present.

Among the prominent guests was YSR Congress Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Vijay and Reddy were seen in conversation, with visuals of their interaction quickly doing the rounds on social media. Actor Suriya was also present at the wedding.

He was welcomed with a bouquet upon arrival and soon became the centre of attention at the venue. Videos and photographs from the event showed Vijay shaking hands, exchanging pleasantries and moving through the gathering with ease.

Before leaving the venue, Vijay paused to pose for photographs with fans, many of whom expressed delight at meeting the actor in person. Images of him clicking pictures circulated widely online, prompting warm reactions.

Vijay’s appearance comes at a time when Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, remains stuck in a certification row. The film, originally slated for release on January 9, is widely believed to be Vijay’s final film before he formally steps into active politics ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

The project is currently awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Madras High Court recently set aside an earlier direction that pushed for the film’s certification and referred the matter back to a lower bench. Neither the film’s producers, KVN Productions, nor the CBFC have issued public statements on the issue so far.

The CBFC has since filed a caveat in the Supreme Court, seeking to be heard before any orders are passed regarding the film’s release.

Jana Nayagan features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
