During a recent interview with People, the singer opened up about the inspiration behind the track and offered a glimpse into his life as a father. Speaking about its origin during a studio session with Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and JP Saxe, Nick said, “My daughter loves Princesses and loves to play Princess.”

He further reflected on what went into creating the track and added, "The day we wrote that song, l'd come in - me, JP Saxe and Gitty were writing a different song. And then basically I went to the bathroom, came back and was like, ‘Wait, can we just try something and just take a swing and see?’”

The singer admitted he was unsure whether the idea would resonate at first. He said, "I didn't know if it was something they would connect with, but I said, '1 have this title, Princesses,' and they both stood up straight and were like, 'Yes, let's do that.'"

Nick clarified that the song was written from his perspective as a parent. “The verses are just speaking about how I see her and how she sees the world. And the chorus is that desire to just play princesses and stay stuck in that moment with her forever if I could,” he continued.

On the work front, Nick is currently working on several film projects, including the highly anticipated Jumanji.
