Sunil Thapa had an extensive career that spanned over four decades, with significant contributions to both Bollywood and Nepali cinema. Known for his versatility, the late actor transitioned seamlessly between roles as a villain and a mentor. He also served as chairman of Everest Film Academy, playing a key role in the development of the film community in Nepal.
Before his acting career, he worked as a model and later made his mark in more than 300 Nepali films, as well as regional and Hindi cinema. Among his memorable performances was the character Rate Kaila in the film Chino (1991), which remains significant in Nepali film history.
