Ranbir Kapoor's Animal Park to go on floors in mid-2027: Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has announced that filming for the sequel to Animal will begin in mid-2027, with Ranbir Kapoor returning to play dual roles. The announcement was made during a media interaction ahead of the film's release in Japan.

Ranbir Kapoor fans will have to wait a little longer to return to the dark, violent world of Animal. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has confirmed that the sequel, titled Animal Park, is slated to begin production in mid-2027, finally offering a clear timeline for one of Hindi cinema’s most anticipated follow-ups.
The update was shared during a virtual media interaction on Wednesday, organised to mark the upcoming Japanese release of Animal. Addressing questions about the sequel, Vanga said the film would go on floors once he completes work on his current project, Spirit.
"Animal Park will start soon once I finish the current film (Spirit). There will be more animals in the film because Aziz is another animal. So, keeping that in mind, it's a war between the two brothers now to look alike, so I thought Animal Park would be the right title. We'll start shooting in mid-2027," Sandeep Reddy Vanga said.
Ranbir Kapoor, who headlined Animal, also joined the virtual interaction and spoke about reprising his role as Rannvijay Singh. The actor will additionally play Aziz, the antagonist introduced in the first film, setting up a dual-role face-off in the sequel.
Kapoor said the groundwork for Animal Park was laid while shooting the first instalment. “I can’t wait to get back on set with Sandeep and to play this character – and now another character,” he said. “Because it’s a continuing story, he had the story of part two very clear in his mind while filming part one itself. That’s very inspiring for me as an actor.”
He added that the collaboration between actor and director has remained active even off set. “Sandeep and I keep chatting through the week or month, discussing different ideas. I really can’t wait to get back to playing Ranvijay and Aziz.”
Released in 2023, Animal starred Ranbir Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri. The film emerged as one of the year’s biggest box office successes, while also sparking widespread debate for its themes and portrayal of violence.
The film is now set for a theatrical release in Japan, with the makers hoping to introduce the controversial blockbuster to a new international audience.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor has a packed slate ahead, including Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. Vanga, on the other hand, is currently focused on Spirit before shifting attention to Animal Park.
