West Bengal on edge after fresh violence, Mamata Banerjee accuses BJP of riot mongering

Prohibitory orders have been clamped and the internet suspended in West Bengal's Hooghly district after two groups came to blows during a Ram Navami procession on Sunday evening. BJP MLA Biman Ghosh, who was part of the rally, was injured as stones were hurled and people clashed in Rishra.

BJP's Dilip Ghosh slammed the Trinamool Congress government for its seeming failure to maintain law and order in Hooghly during the Ram Navami. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was accused of giving a “clean chit to some people” on account of their religion.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the saffron party of funding and provoking riots in several areas of the state.
