Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Monday afternoon after he complained of throat-related problems, coughing and fever. The senior leader was brought to the city from his residence in Maharashtra's Baramati on Monday afternoon for further medical care.

The veteran politician was unwell while in Baramati and initially took primary treatment there. However, as his condition persisted, doctors advised that he be shifted to Pune for detailed evaluation and treatment.

Supriya, along with her husband Sadanand Sule, were present at the hospital and were staying with the NCP founder. Earlier, a close aide of Sharad Pawar's had said that the senior leader was suffering from a throat infection.

Hospital authorities said Pawar is being closely monitored, and his condition would be assessed by a team of specialists before deciding on the next steps.

NCP(SP) leaders and supporters have expressed concern over Pawar’s health, noting that he had remained actively engaged in public affairs in recent days despite personal loss in the family.

He had continued meeting people and attending programmes following the death of his nephew and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Further updates on his condition are expected after doctors complete the medical examination and review his response to treatment.
