Vishal Dadlani's stern warning to aspiring singers: Don't get some mantri to call me
Vishal Dadlani issued a warning to new artists not to use influential intermediaries to approach him. He called for talent, hard work, and self-belief as the path to success in music.

Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani has addressed aspiring singers, cautioning them against trying to gain his attention through influential intermediaries. The message follows an incident where a newcomer attempted to contact Dadlani via a political figure, prompting a strong response from the composer on social media. Dadlani, known for his candid perspectives, emphasised that shortcuts and recommendations are not the way forward in the music industry.
Dadlani shared a direct message to aspiring musicians: "Some advice for newbie singers. Don't fuc**** get some mantri-ji or his secretary to call me. I have zero respect for people who try to make their way forward through 'contacts. To the chap who just tried it, mantri-ji is now blocked, and so are you. Now, even if you are a great singer, I have no interest in working with you. Sorry."
He made it clear that this approach is an immediate disqualification for those seeking to collaborate with him. The statement was posted alongside further remarks about the necessity of self-belief and effort. "Please have faith in your talent, be prepared to work hard, and be patient. If you are good, your time will come. Don't do the 'sifaarish' thing. It's a boring clich and, more than anything, it only shows you to be someone who doesn't believe their talent is enough."
After his post, a curious social media user asked Vishal what the proper channel is to meet the singer. The singer clarified, "Just put your music out. If it's good, it will find me. Also, I am in the process of setting up a platform to discover new artists every week."
When prompted by a social media user about whether the aspiring singer should be named, Dadlani responded, "One mistake shouldn't define his career. Hopefully, he will see this, learn his lesson, and do things right when he approaches other people to work with."
Vishal Dadlani, one half of the music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar, is recognised for songs such as Khuda Jaane, Bang Bang, Ishq Wala Love, Fakira, and Besharam Rang.
