A video showing a woman bank employee verbally abusing a customer has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation over her conduct and alleged casteist remarks.
The incident reportedly took place at an HDFC Bank branch in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The video shows the employee, identified as Aastha, arguing with an account holder following a complaint. During the heated exchange, she is heard using foul language and invoking her caste, repeatedly saying, "I am a Thakur," and warning the customer, "Don’t mess with me."
In the clip, the bank employee is seen standing across the desk from the customer, angrily reprimanding them. At one point, she threateningly lifting her laptop as if to hurl it at the other person during the confrontation. "Aisi ki taisi kardenge (I'll ruin you)," she shouts.
Amid the blazing row, several colleagues are seen intervening and attempting to calm her down and defuse the situation. Despite their efforts, the employee continues shouting and behaving aggressively.
The video has circulated widely across social media platforms. Users said the bank employee’s behaviour was unprofessional and condemned her for bringing caste into the dispute. Many have called for strict action against the employee and accountability from the private bank.
It remains unclear what triggered the argument between the bank employee and the customer. So far, HDFC Bank has not issued an official statement on the incident.
