MP Kanimozhi on DMK's big win in Tamil Nadu, governance and roadmap ahead

In an exclusive conversation with India Today TV, DMK leader Kanimozhi talks about the party's big win in Tamil Nadu. She spoke about the key priorities of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and said the first challenge for the party will be Covid-19 situation in the state.

Ending its decade-long stint in the opposition, even relegated to the third spot in the House in 2011, the M K Stalin-led party made a spirited comeback to the ruling saddle to unseat its rival AIADMK.

Stalin, the 68-year-old DMK president is all set to become Chief Minister for the first time, even as his son and party's youth wing chief Udhayanidhi came up trumps in his maiden electoral venture.

As counting of votes polled in the April 6 TN Assembly election progressed on Sunday, it became amply clear that the DMK was dislodging AIADMK from the seat of power with ease.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking after the session, welcomed newly elected BJP president Nitin Nabin and noted the visible enthusiasm among MPs over the recent trade developments. Chants of “Jai Modi,” “Vande Mataram,” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” echoed through the hall as party members praised Modi for the landmark agreement with US President Donald Trump.
