Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav won the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday by a margin of 1,70,000 votes over his nearest rival and BJP MP Subrata Pathak.
After big win in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav thanked the people of Kannauj and said people voted to support positive politics, to save democracy and reject hatred.
"I want to thank the people of Kannauj for supporting positive politics... there was definitely a gap in between, but I am really grateful to the people of Kannauj for giving the Samajwadi Party another chance," Akhilesh Yadav said, in an exclusive conversation with India Today.
"Aim of the Samajwadi party was to stop BJP, and we succeeded," he added.
