2 labourers killed, 1 injured as scaffolding collapses at construction site in Noida

A fatal accident has been reported from Noida on Wednesday afternoon when scaffolding collapsed at an under-construction multi-storey building in Sector 144, leading to the death of two labourers and serious injuries to another. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sector 142 police station.
According to initial information, construction work was underway at the site when the scaffolding suddenly gave way.

Following the incident, the police initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and to assess whether safety norms were violated at the construction site.
As part of the preliminary action, two people — the site supervisor and the contractor — have been detained for questioning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Awasthi said, "Three people were injured today after falling while working on scaffolding at an under-construction building in the Sector 142 police station area. On receiving the information, police immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. Two of them later died during treatment".
"Two people have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the incident. There is no law and order issue, and further legal action is being taken".
Officials said that a detailed inquiry is underway to ascertain whether proper safety equipment was provided to the workers and if the scaffolding met required standards. Statements of other workers present at the site are also being recorded.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over safety practices at construction sites in the region.
Authorities have indicated that strict action will be taken if negligence or violations of safety regulations are found during the investigation.
