Hyundai is already laying the groundwork for the next-generation Creta, and newly surfaced renderings based on recent spy shots offer a glimpse of how radically the popular SUV could evolve. With the Creta continuing to dominate the mid-size SUV segment despite intense competition, Hyundai appears keen to raise the design and technology bar yet again with the upcoming third-generation model.

Test prototypes spotted in South Korea have sparked digital interpretations by rendering artist Nymammoth, and the result points to a far more futuristic Creta than ever before. If the production version stays close to these previews, the next-gen Creta could make its global debut as early as 2027.

Sharper, more futuristic design

The most dramatic changes are expected up front. The renders showcase a bold new face inspired by Hyundai’s global EV design language, borrowing cues from models like the Ioniq 5 and Nexo. A split-headlamp layout dominates the fascia, with pixel-style LED daytime running lights stretching across the width, paired with multiple LED pods positioned centrally.

The grille area appears heavily reworked, featuring blacked-out panels that integrate the headlamps, ADAS radar and front camera. A rugged-looking silver skid plate and distinctive ice-cube style fog lamps add an SUV-like toughness to the overall design.

From the side, the new Creta looks noticeably larger and more muscular. Thick body cladding, pronounced wheel arches and strong character lines give it a more imposing stance. The renderings also depict flush-fitting door handles, new aerodynamic alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres, integrated roof rails and a cleaner glasshouse design. While the rear has not been fully revealed yet, expect slimmer LED tail-lamps, a redesigned bumper and a reworked tailgate to complete the transformation.

New cabin with premium focus

Inside, the next-gen Creta is expected to undergo a complete overhaul. Spy images hint at a cleaner, more horizontal dashboard layout with a stronger focus on technology and premium materials. Hyundai is likely to offer black leatherette upholstery on higher trims, with dual-tone cabin themes on lower variants.

A longer wheelbase is expected to translate into better rear-seat space, while the SUV will move to Hyundai’s new K3 platform. This architecture is said to offer improved structural rigidity, higher safety standards and support for advanced driver assistance systems. Larger infotainment displays, an expanded digital instrument cluster and a richer feature list are all expected to be part of the package.

Powertrains to remain familiar

Mechanically, Hyundai is likely to stick with its proven engine lineup. The next-gen Creta is expected to continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines, paired with a range of manual and automatic gearboxes. While outputs may remain largely unchanged, refinements in efficiency, drivability and emissions compliance are anticipated. A hybrid is also expected to come later.

With over a dozen rivals now vying for attention in the mid-size SUV segment, Hyundai appears set to respond with a Creta that is not just a refresh, but a comprehensive reimagining. A bolder design, a more premium and tech-loaded cabin, and familiar yet refined powertrains could help the next-generation Creta continue its stronghold in one of India’s most competitive vehicle categories.
