Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with the Order of Oman, the Sultanate's highest civilian honour, by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said. The award was presented during the Prime Minister's two-day visit to Oman, the final stop on a three-nation tour. According to India Today's Editor for India Today Global, Pranay Upadhyay, the honour is significant, stating it is 'evidence of how much importance Oman attaches to India.' Upadhyay noted that this is the 29th highest civilian award conferred upon the Prime Minister from a foreign nation and highlighted the recent conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and Oman. The report also mentioned that this award came just a day after PM Modi received Ethiopia's highest honour.
