The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a formal statement regarding the fuel switch controversy involving Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. The regulator clarified that after a thorough inspection, the switches were found to be 'satisfactory with the locking tooth' and remained secure under pressure. The DGCA analysed the viral video of the alleged defect and observed that the 'procedure demonstrated in the video was circulated incorrectly' compared to Boeing's recommended protocols. While the pilot had initially flagged concerns, the DGCA's inspection confirmed the aircraft was fit for flight. The airline has now been advised to recirculate the correct Boeing-recommended procedures for operating fuel control switches to all crew members.Â
