Donald Trump indictment: What is the case against him?

Former US President Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on March 30 on charges involving payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels to silence her claims of having a sexual relationship with him.

This is the first criminal case brought against a former president in American history. The indictment comes as Trump returned to the political stage with his 2024 re-election bid for the White House. Trump's arraignment (the first time a defendant appears in court after being charged) is set to be held on Tuesday (local time) in connection to the case.
