Off-spinner Washington Sundar lived his dream in Brisbane earlier this week when he played a crucial role in his debut Test to help India register a famous win at the Gabba against Australia.
Sundar scored 84 runs in the match and picked 4 wickets as India beat Australia by 3 wickets on Day 5 to clinch the four-match series 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the second time in a row Down Under.
Sundar, who was part of the Test squad as a net bowler, got to showcase his talent with bat and ball only because of the spate of injuries that plagued Team India in Australia.
India lost 8 of its first-team players during the series but rookies like Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Shubman Gill kept the belief in the team alive through their performances.
