Sunil Gavaskar on MS Dhoni gloves controversy: Rules are meant to be followed

Sunil Gavaskar said he did not care what MS Dhoni wore as long as India's charismatic wicketkeeper continued to do what he does so spectacularly on the field. Dhoni was in the middle of a raging controversy after the ICC objected to the army crest on his wicketkeeping gloves.

MS Dhoni sported an army insignia on his gloves during India's World Cup 2019 opener against South Africa on Wednesday. The ICC requested BCCI to ask Dhoni to remove the crest but Indian fans were left fuming.

While several leading sports personalities felt MS Dhoni was justified in wearing those gloves, Gavaskar said the ICC rules were there for a reason and if MS Dhoni was allowed to continue wearing his gloves then players from other countries might also be encouraged to do things their way.
