Bihar revises death toll: Will we ever know the true extent of Covid tragedy? 

After the Patna High Court suspected irregularities in death figures in the state, the Bihar govt's audit found over 3,000 deaths were not accounted for in state's Covid tally.

In a drastic revision, the Bihar Health Department added 3,951 unaccounted deaths to the state's Covid tally, taking the figure from 5,500 to 9,429 deaths -- a staggering 72% jump.

Meanwhile, a huge political uproar has erupted over underreporting death toll. The Congress has accused CM Nitish Kumar of lying to the people, while RJD claimed that Nitish's double engine govt has been exposed.
