The Burning Question: Why is centre silent on horrific rapes?

Union Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi today said that her ministry intends to bring an amendment to the POCSO Act and will seek death penalty for rape on children below 12 years of age.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi while addressing media persons at India Gate reiterated the need for government's intervention in the soaring crimes against women. He said that it was not a political issue but a fight for justice.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was booked by the UP Police yesterday following a nationwide furor over rape allegations against him. Yogi Adityanath assured that the ‘guilty won’t be spared’.
