Rahul Gandhi's minimum income guarantee promise: Pragmatic or outlandish?

With Lok Sabha elections just a few months away, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that his party will launch a scheme that will provide guaranteed income to the poor people of the country if it is voted to power in the upcoming polls. He said that the scheme would rid India of poverty and hunger.

Rahul Gandhi's decision follows the NDA government's decision to give 10 per cent quota to the economically backward section in the general category.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing a Kisaan Abhaar Sammelan to express gratitude to Chhattisgarh's people, particularly farmers, for voting the Congress to power in the state after 15 years.
