Surprised Kohli batted, I would've bowled: Sourav Ganguly to India Today

South Africa rode on a disciplined bowling effort to skittle out India for a paltry 187 in their first innings on the opening day of the third and final Test at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

"It is a tough wicket and I am actually surprised that Virat won the toss and batted. It has done a lot in the first session of the Test match. It has been hard work for the Indians. Virat Kohli is a class above so he got a fifty, but it will be hard work for the rest of the batsmen. It is tough cricket pitch and India will have to fight," Sourav Ganguly said.

On a wicket that promised good carry and bounce for the faster bowlers, India won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat to find only three of their batsmen reach double figures -- Cheteshwar Pujara (50), skipper Virat Kohli (54) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (30).

When asked if he wouldhave sone anything different, he said, "In this Test match I would have probably bowled. It is a pitch that is doing a bit, India are 2-0 down in the series."

For the Proteas, it was a collective effort from the likes of Morne Morkel (2/47), Vernon Philander (2/31), Kagiso Rabada (3/39), Lungisani Ngidi (1/27) and Andile Phehlukwayo (2/25).
