2 years since demonetisation: Was it a success or failure?

Demonetisation changed the way India did business. Two years on, the picture is still grim for the traditional industries like handlooms, handicrafts, tiles and bricks, and metalworking.

According to industry estimates, India's traditional trade accounts for 92 per cent of the Rs 2.6-trillion packaged goods industry. Of this, nearly 40 per cent is wholesale, which mostly transacts in cash at the lower level of the supply chain.
