What triggered Assam-Mizoram border clashes?

A day after a violent clash and exchange of fire between police forces of Assam and Mizoram left at least six people dead and over 50 injured, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his state will move the Supreme Court seeking protection of Innerline Forest
Reserve from destruction and encroachment.

He further asserted that not an inch of Assam's land could be encroached by the neighbouring state.
