Should SC step in to resolve contentious religious and political questions?

The Varanasi district court has ruled that petitions by Hindus seeking permission to worship at Gyanvapi mosque is maintainable. The court also held that the petition is not barred by the Places of Worship Act that enforces status quo as of August 15, 1947. The next hearing in the Gyanvapi case is on September 22.
