India on Wednesday announced that it was going to pause the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan with immediate effect in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 tourists were killed. Among other steps, India downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan by calling its diplomats from Pakistan back and also shutting down the Pakistani mission in New Delhi.Â
