Face-off over Republic Day: Is there a need to scale down celebrations?

An all-out political war has erupted over the Republic Day celebrations after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson cancelled his visit to India for January 26.

Hours after Boris Johnson cancelled his trip, Congress leader Shahshi Tharoor suggested that government should consider cancelling the Republic Day celbrations altogether this year in view of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, responding to Tharoor's suggestions, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra launched a blistering attack on the Thiruvananthapuram MP, raising Rahul Gandhi's foreign visits.
