Dalit anger across India: SC/ST Act creating a Dalit-upper caste divide?

Dalit organisations across the country have called for a Bharat Bandh today to voice their protest against a recent Supreme Court ruling that diluted the provisions of the SC/ST Protection Act. The court, in its ruling, prohibited automatic arrest and registration in cases of alleged harassment of SCs and STs. The Bharat Bandh call comes even as the Centre filed a review petition challenging the Supreme Court order.
