SC to hear Thackeray's plea against EC today; Fresh cracks develop in Joshimath; more

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Uddhav Thackeray's plea challenging the Election Commission (EC) order allotting the Shiv Sena party name and symbol to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led faction. The plea will be heard on Wednesday at 3.30 pm. Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday.

Fresh cracks have appeared on Badrinath highway near Joshimath, the 'sinking' town, in Uttarakhand months ahead of the Char Dham Yatra. The Badrinath highway, which leads to the Himalayan temple, is used for taking pilgrims from Joshimath to Badrinath during the yatra season.
