Lok Sabha polls: Andhra CM Naidu leads charge against EC over the faulty EVM issue

Opposition leaders including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu have claimed that the EVM machines being used in the Lok Sabha elections are faulty. They have made a demand to make sure that the VVPAT must be counted to match the paper trail in at least 50 per cent of the EVMs being used.

However, the Election Commission has rejected the argument and claim that they do not believe that there is anything wrong with the EVMs. The EC says that there is no hard evidence to prove any of the claims made by the Opposition.

"EC believing the claims is not enough. The voters have to believe," Chandrababu Naidu said. Naidu asked what problem the EC had if the VVPAT of 50 per cent of the EVMs was counted.
