The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the arrest of Kamal Haasan over the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief's remark that Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse was independent India's first terrorist.
Addressing an election rally at Aravakurichi in Tamil Nadu on Monday, Kamal Haasan said: "I am not saying this because this is a Muslim-dominated area, but I am saying this in front of a statue of Gandhi. Free India's first terrorist was a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse. There it [terrorism, apparently] starts."
