Navratri meat ban in Maihar divides social media

SDM Divya Patel announced that from September 22 to October 2, the sale of meat, fish, and eggs is banned in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, during Navratri. Authorities say it’s to respect the city’s religious traditions as lakhs of devotees visit Maa Sharda temple.

The internet, however, isn’t impressed — users are calling the move “idiotic” and questioning why food choices are being policed in the name of faith.
