Before Sridevi, how Mumbai said goodbye to its icons

Sridevi, India's first female superstar, was laid to rest today. Thousands of her fans gathered on the streets of Mumbai to bid farewell to their 'Chandni'. Rarely has Mumbai come out in such numbers.

The scenes witnessed today were a throwback to the funerals of other icons such as Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray; ghazal singer Jagjit Singh; filmstars Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, and now Sridevi.
