On Thursday, the Telugu version of Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Mersal found itself in fresh trouble after the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) did not issue a clearance certificate ahead of its release, that was scheduled to happen today.
Speaking exclusively to India Today Television, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi said that the Telugu version of Mersal, titled Athirindhi, has been cleared without any cuts.
Joshi also criticised the producers for blaming the board for the delay.
Directed by Atlee, Mersal is produced by Sri Thenandal Films for a budget of Rs 120 crore. So far, the film has made over Rs 170 crore in its first week.

The film received positive reviews from critics. Mersal also stars Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, SJ Suryah and Vadivelu in pivotal roles.
