An Indian national from Mumbai who spent three years in a Pakistani jail will return to India on Tuesday, December 18. Hamid Nihal Ansari, 33, was arrested for illegally entering Pakistan from Afghanistan, reportedly to meet a girl he met online. In 2015, a military court sentenced him to three years in prison for possessing a fake Pakistani ID card.
Hamid Ansari's jail term ended last week. But he wasn't able to leave for India as his legal documents weren't ready. On Thursday, the Peshawar High Court gave the federal government a month to complete his repatriation process. Ansari will reach India through the Wagah border.
