The reservation will also extend to seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Anglo-Indians. The bill suggests that this reservation will continue for 15 years, with seats being rotated after each delimitation exercise. Today's debate highlighted the under-representation and discrimination faced by women in politics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the oldest and youngest members of the Lok Sabha, 93-year-old Shafiqur Rahman Barq and 30-year-old Chandrani Murmu, respectively.

The proceedings took place in the new parliament building, marking a historic day in Indian politics.
