Two cooks at a school in Daudapur village of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh were sacked after they refused to wash the utensils of students belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities and also segregated them.
The school cooks allegedly made the students wash their utensils after the mid-day meal and refused to touch them. They even made the students keep their utensils separately.
Soon after the discriminatory practices at the government school in Mainpuri came to the fore, District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh took cognizance of the issue and fired the two cooks. The DM also sought action against the headmistress for being lax with her work. The headmistress has also been expelled from the school.
