In a potshot at the BJP's defeat in the Karnataka Assembly election, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said the Reserve Bank of Indiaâs decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation was an attempt to conceal the party's failure. Targeting the Centre, Staling tweeted, "500 doubts, 1000 mysteries, 2000 errors"æTrying to hide Karnataka disaster using a single trick.â
On Saturday (May 20), Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said whenever PM Modi goes to Japan, there is a "note bandi" notification. "When he went to Japan last time he had made a Rs 1,000 note bandi. This time when he has gone he has done Rs 2,000 note bandi," Kharge said.Â
The RBI on Friday announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation but gave the public time till September 30 to either deposit such notes in accounts or exchange them at banks.
