Stampede at Vaishno Devi kills 12, netas blame scuffle among pilgrims

A sudden rush of devotees at the Vaishno Devi shrine here to mark the beginning of the New Year triggered the stampede that resulted in the death of 12 people, while 15 others were wounded. Speaking to India Today, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, MoS Nityanand Rai and J&K Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said the mishap said a minor scuffle among some youths caused a panic and led to a stampede.
