Protests over Citizenship Bill are political: Kiren Rijiju

Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the widespread protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill issue in the Northeast is "political".

The protests and resentment shown over the Citizenship (Amendment Bill) is political. The issue of Citizenship bill in the Northeast region is not about any law and order situation but it is a political issue," Rijiju said at the India Today Conclave 2019.

His remarks came during a panel discussion with India Today TV News Director Rahul Kanwal, in which BJP spokesperon Sambit Patra also took part.
