PM Modi meets Malaysian counterpart, raises issue of Zakir Naik extradition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on his two-day visit to Russia, on Thursday met his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad and raised the issue of extradition of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.

PM Modi took up the issue during an interaction session with Mahathir Mohamad in Russia at the international event of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The Islamic preacher is a fugitive in India and has taken shelter in Malaysia. Zakir Naik is the founder of controversial 'Peace TV' and has been residing in Malaysia since 2017.
