Parliament panel may summon Sebi chief Madhabi Puri Buch: Sources

Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, headed by Congress MP KC Venugopal, may summon Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch during a performance review of regulatory bodies, sources told India Today. Under the rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Parliament, the PAC can summon chiefs of regulatory bodies while reviewing their performance. Buch is facing allegations of conflict of interest over the Sebi investigation into the Hindenburg Research claims against the Adani Group. The Congress has questioned payments made to Buch made by ICICI Bank, her former employer, after she became a whole time member of SEBI, and sought an independent probe into the matter.
